For qmail-1.03-r16, there appears to be a problem with how the NIC is selected for an outgoing SMTP connection. The problem does not affect qmail-1.03-r15. My system has 3 NICs two redundant Internet connections, with the 3rd on a non routable segment. On upgrading to qmail-1.03-r16 I found that over 80% of the time outgoing smtp connections were initiated on the non routable segment, rather then through the NICs connected to the Internet. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install qmail-1.03-r16 on a machine with 3x NICS, 1 not routable. 2. Start to send/recieve email. 3. Check netstat -a to monitor connections Actual Results: Results are that over 80% of the connections are formed on the non-routable interface. Expected Results: Connections should be shared accross the NICs tht are routed to the Internet. I've done some research on this, and I suspect that the problem is caused by the moreip patch that was added to qmail-1.03-r16, but I don't have the resources available to confirm this.
Sorry for the late answer, the bug got lost. Use mail-mta/netqmail.
