Description Mark Felder 2005-12-03 10:53:05 UTC
Can someone please explain why every other ut2004 mod or expansion in portage is
a .run file (which can be obtained from liflg.org), but the ece bonus pack asks
for the .tar.bz2 which is fairly difficult to find sometimes? The links for it
are slow, and as I said -- its not consistent. The liflg has a .run installer
for it, but it is not used in portage as it should be. It would be nice if
portage was a little more consistent here.

Thanks.

It's actually done for a reason. The distfile gets downloaded even for people that installed from the ECE media. Because of this limitation in portage, there's no way for me to determine whether a user should be getting ECE or not, so I am forced to download it. Forcing a user to manually download a distfile for something they don't even need just to install their game is pretty crappy, IMO.

Consistency isn't everything. Deal with it. =]
