Looks like its gone upstream but still on our distfile mirrors. I've used mirrorselect -H to select a mirror. I do not know what you mean by "bypassing distfiles completely"
I removed the mirror line from my make.conf file. It's working !
fwiw, i've seen this when my cpu's overheated (usually on my laptop)
hit closed by accident
resetting to needinfo :)
