I installed evolution 1.2 a week or two ago. everything worked fine. now recently I did a gnome-panel update (2.0.11) with the needed updates included. now somehow clicking on "contacts" leaves me with the current screen (summary, email, whatever). I already tried to unmerge and reemerge evolution, contacts still won't work. my settings in make.conf are: USE="-alsa -arts esd -kde -apm gtk2 dvd" CFLAGS="-mcpu=athlon-xp -O3 -pipe"
Azarah : can you have a look at this ? reporter : anything in .gnomerc-errors btw (or in the terminal if you run evolution from the commandline). And what is the output of 'emerge info' ?
.gnomerc-errors stays untouched. there are also no errors displayed in terminal. something else: left-clicking on contacts is (as I mentioned before) possible but doesn't give me the contacts. but if i do a right mouse button click and chose "open in new window". I can select from there "contacts" and voil

Got that version of gnome-panel ... contacts working fine ...
You could try ease down on optimisations.
I'm having the same problem. Some Evolution 1.2.1 parts aren't working, I cannot access the contacts and sometimes I have some other problems in some other parts. I'm using "-O2 -march=athlon -pipe" cflags on gcc3.2.1 with latest 2.0.x gnome.
Still works fine this side, with gcc-3.2.1 and gcc-2.95.3. Run: # ldd /usr/bin/evolution-addressbook and attach.
