A simple font viewing utility. Uses pyGTK to display system fonts and allows user to change font size, color, background color, font face and the diplayed text. Handy to view fonts and styles quickly, or use to make "logo" graphics. Also can be used to install/delete fonts on a per-user basis. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Simple ebuild that just copies a python script over to /usr/bin and copies the documents to the correct spot. I found this application looking for a good font browser to go through all the fonts and get an accurate picture of what the font looks like. The only one I could find currently in portage is gfontview, which doesn't do a good job at all at display what the fonts look like.
Created attachment 73908 [details] FONTpage-0.6.ebuild not sure if this is a proper way to isntall a standalone python script, but it works. If there is a better way, please let me know.
Created attachment 86139 [details] fontpage-1.0.ebuild Here is an ebuild for the latest fontpage. The python script was renamed to all lowercase so I change the name of the ebuild to match. By doing this I had to change th MY_P variable to match the tarball. One issue, when trying to download the package from the site using wget, I get an forbidden error. So for now , it has to be downloaded from the site. I am waiting to here back from the dev on the issue and will add the feth restriction if needed.
changed the summary to add fontpage to help with searching
Created attachment 86142 [details] fontpage-1.0-r1.ebuild Here is the package with fetch restriction turned on. The developer was having his server pillaged(sp?) with wget's mirror function so he just blocked it all together. He is running the server out of his house and he said it was just killing his bandwidth. I have hadded the no_fethc() function with the html page you need to goto to download the package. The only other work around I see is to put it on gentoo's mirrors (not sure what that takes to accomplish that)
Created attachment 95370 [details] fontpage-2.0.ebuild Updated to 2.0, removed the fetch restriction. Changelog: * New "Display Font" feature opens popup window with complete alphabet (upper and lower case) and 0-9. Window shows current font with current size -- use multiple windows to compare different fonts. * Font size now scales up to 256 pts (was 128) * Config file will now track last window dimensions when the application is restarted. * If user font directory directory (~/.fonts) does not exist, FONTpage will create one. This is to facilitate installing and deleting fonts, which FONTpage will only do on a per-user basis. (This is to avoid problems.)
Created attachment 121323 [details] fontpage-2.0.ebuild Tidied ebuild, added desktop entry. I suggest category: media-gfx
(this is an automated message based on filtering criteria that matched this bug) 'EBUILD' is in the KEYWORDS which should mean that there is a ebuild attached to this bug. This bug is assigned to maintainer-wanted which means that it is not in the main tree. Heuristics show that no Gentoo developer has commented on your ebuild. Hello, The Gentoo Team would like to firstly thank you for your ebuild submission. We also apologize for not being able to accommodate you in a timely manner. There are simply too many new packages. Allow me to use this opportunity to introduce you to Gentoo Sunrise. The sunrise overlay[1] is a overlay for Gentoo which we allow trusted users to commit to and all users can have ebuilds reviewed by Gentoo devs for entry into the overlay. So, the sunrise team is suggesting that you look into this and submit your ebuild to the overlay where even *you* can commit to. =) Because this is a mass message, we are also asking you to be patient with us. We anticipate a large number of requests in a short time. Thanks, On behalf of the Gentoo Sunrise Team, Jeremy.
