Description Artur Brodowski 2005-12-01 03:11:14 UTC
After upgrading to modular Xorg (7.0.0rc2) I cannot play nwn. It starts fine,
shows the menus, even lets me to create a new character - but when it should
show a location (new game or after loading a savegame) - it crashes without
a warning. Since SDL components work fine, my guess is that there's something
wrong with loading OpenGL libs.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. upgrade to modular Xorg
2. start new/load game
3. watch it crash just before showing a location

Actual Results:
NWN quits back to X

Expected Results:
I should be able to enjoy the game

Can you run NWN from the command line to possibly get some more output?
Comment 2 Artur Brodowski 2005-12-04 09:34:11 UTC
It just quits after 'Loading Area...' screen, no warnings or error msgs.

Do you have any other intensive OpenGL games that you can test with? Something
like Neverball comes to mind...

Return to Castle Wolfenstein seems to work fine, so does UT 2004.

Maybe some strace output could show what files it is not finding?
Comment 6 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-03-30 20:13:23 UTC
I ran strace. It is huge (28MB). It is now at http://dev.gentoo.org/~wolf31o2/nwn-strace.log for you to look at, or at least it will be in ~20 minutes from now... ;]

Which version of the nwn ebuild are you using? Also, I recently modified the ebuild for 1.66, so if that's the version you're running, please update and see if it resolves it for you. I was able to reproduce this before, but now I cannot, so I think that I have resolved this.
Comment 8 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-04-22 07:55:18 UTC
I also cannot reproduce this with the split (and masked) nwn-data and nwn-1.66-r1 ebuilds. Again, I was able to reproduce this in the past, and no longer can do so.
Comment 9 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-06-28 07:03:50 UTC
Well, I've been unable to reproduce this for some time now, and haven't gotten any responses, so I'm going to assume that it is now fixed.
