For example, many non-newbies are missing the fact that stages 1 & 2 have been deprecated, and they're asking about it in #gentoo. I think there should be an online doc that describes recent changes (<1 year?) to the handbook. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: I don't think it's unreasonable for an experienced user to expect to be able to do an install without re-reading the entire handbook.
I agree.

I think there should be an > online doc that describes recent changes (<1 year?) to the handbook. "Instructions on using a stage1 or stage2 tarball are now available in the Gentoo FAQ. A stage3 installation is the only supported installation as of now." is darn explicit, isn't it? It's been announced on our front page (GWN 2005-11-14), it's been discussed in the forums and in plenty other places. Adding more noise will not help. Besides, experienced Gentooers can use the quick install guide.
That'll teach me to leave examples. No, I'm not talking specifically about the stage 1 and 2 deprecation, it's *just a good example* -- I'm talking about in general, when the handbook changes, a *single* source for reviewing those changes. Please forget that I mentioned the stage deprecations, and reopen this bug.

It would only cause a lot of extra work.
