`xset dmps force on' does not work for ati-drivers-8.19.10

Tested on Thinkpad R51 laptop with Radeon 9000. dmps does work with radeon driver

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. xset dmps force off && xset dmps force on
2.
3.

Actual Results:  
screen turns off, then only backlight comes on with no images

Expected Results:  
screen turns off, then on again, with the same content as when it was turned off

Bug persists in 8.30.3-r1

I'm actually on a Thinkpad T60 now, but results are the same. (ATI Mobile X300)

Not tested with radeon driver included in XOrg as it did not support the hardware when I first set-up the laptop.
