Start Gimp. Open an existing image (for example a .gif file) and save it with a new name. After saving, close the image and Gimp crashes with a glibc giving a double free or corruption error. I 've just downgraded to v.2.2.8-r1 and the problem persists.
Found the cause of the problem. I use KDE 3.5 with the gtk-qt theme engine for the Gnome applications to display nicely. After I changed the Gnome theme from the "GTK Styles and Fonts" Control Panel item, the problem was fixed. I had similar problems with Eclipse-sdk, which were solved following the same approach. Marked the bug invalid. Sorry for the inconvenience.
