I'm using the 3.5.0_rc1 packages, but this also happened with kde 3.3. I have the 'Disconnect on X server shutdown' option checked in kppp, but when I exit X (thru the KDE Log Out, either 'End Current Session' or 'Turn Off Computer'), kppp stops but it leaves pppd running. If I've done 'End Current Session', then I can check that pppd is still running; if I do 'Turn Off Computer', then the resolve.conf is not restored, and that causes problems when I restart (with the newest SpamAssassin---it tries to do something with DNS, which fails because the nameservers in the bad resolv.conf are not accessable). As far as I can tell, this happens every time. This may be the same as the KDE bug <http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=22326>. I should have mentioned: if I disconnect kppp by hand, pppd disconnects properly.
This is definitely the same of https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=22326 and also https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=87880 Nothing we can do for that...
