I can not boot my system when the newgen LSI MegaRAID driver is used instead of the legacy one (which works). Kernel 2.6.14-gentoo-r2 will crash at boot time. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Use the LSI MegaRAID newgen driver instead of the legacy one 2. 3. Actual Results: Crash at boot Expected Results: The box should work... I will upload a picture showing the crash when this bug is submitted. My SCSI adapter is the LSI MegaRIAD 320-4X. ### lspci: 0000:02:00.0 RAID bus controller: LSI Logic / Symbios Logic MegaRAID (rev 02) Subsystem: LSI Logic / Symbios Logic MegaRAID 531 SCSI 320-4X RAID Controller Control: I/O- Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV+ VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping+ SERR+ FastB2B- Status: Cap+ 66Mhz+ UDF- FastB2B- ParErr- DEVSEL=medium >TAbort- <TAbort- <MAbort- >SERR- <PERR- Latency: 64 (32000ns min), cache line size 10 Interrupt: pin A routed to IRQ 177 Region 0: Memory at ca1f0000 (32-bit, prefetchable) [size=64K] Region 2: Memory at fa580000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=512K] Expansion ROM at fa560000 [disabled] [size=128K] Capabilities: [c0] Power Management version 2 Flags: PMEClk- DSI- D1+ D2- AuxCurrent=0mA PME(D0-,D1-,D2-,D3hot-,D3cold-) Status: D0 PME-Enable- DSel=0 DScale=0 PME- Capabilities: [d0] Message Signalled Interrupts: 64bit+ Queue=0/1 Enable- Address: 0000000000000000 Data: 0000 Capabilities: [e0] PCI-X non-bridge device. Is this reproducible on the latest development kernel? (currently vanilla-sources-2.6.15_rc2)
Don't know. I'll try tomorrow.
2.6.15-rc2 from kernel.org works just fine. I assumed (and hoped) that it is identical to vanilla-sources?
gentoo-sources-2.6.15 is now in portage
