Please retry the install with verbose (bottom of Misc. tab on Client Config
screen) and then attach the installer.log.

Installation log with Verbose debug feature on as requested.

I am attaching the log with verbose as requested. To make sure nothing was
diffrent I downloaded and used the latestest installer package and downloaded
this install profile from my original bug report. please let me know if you
keed anything else for this bug.

To download latest installer I used this code from the fourms
# MOST IMPORTANTLY: update the installer to the latest CVS version before
proceeding! A number of bugs have been fixed in the CVS version.

For convenience sake, here's the steps to update the GLI on the X CD (taken
from the official GLI FAQ):
Code:
(open a terminal and then...)
# xhost +
# sudo su -
# /opt/installer/misc/getgli
# export DISPLAY=:0.0
# cd installer/src/fe/gtk
# ./gtkfe.py

Whoops...that exception showing up in the log is a bug in my debugging code for
that function. It's fixed in cvs. Please try a verbose install again, so we can
see the *real* error :)

Also, there are new scripts to make running a cvs version easier. Just open up a
terminal and run '/opt/installer/misc/updategtkfe'. This procedure has been
updated in the FAQ as well. BTW, do you have a URL for that forums topic?
Comment 6 tom stack 2005-11-24 11:07:57 UTC
I will try to update the cvs with the newer script and get back to you.

The fourm topic is

It is on page 2 the sixth post down.

output page from setup

This is the output page from the installer log that opens after install starts.
Not sure if you need this or not.

Okay, that's better. Which LiveCD are you using? You selected AMD64 as the
hardware, but that doesn't tell me if you're using the x86 or amd64 livecd.
Comment 10 tom stack 2005-11-24 13:52:15 UTC
I am using the amd 64 version of the live cd. My processor is an AMD Athlon 64
3200+, 1 gig pc 3200 ram, ATI Radeon 9800 PRO 128 meg agp, Asus K8V deluxe
motherboard.
Comment 11 tom stack 2005-11-24 13:53:36 UTC
The ISO I burned the cd from which is on my other computer is named
livecd-amd64-installer-2005.1-r1
Comment 12 tom stack 2005-11-24 20:48:19 UTC
I saw that there was an updated version of the installer for
installer-20051124.tar.bz2. The same error showed up in the same place.
Comment 13 Andrew Gaffney (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-11-26 08:55:10 UTC
Please quit messing with the bug. I'm obviously already getting mails for it, so
I don't need to be on the CC. It looks like the amd64 livecd is incomplete. I'm
waiting to talk to the guy who built it, so we can get that fixed.
Comment 14 Andrew Gaffney (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-03-01 05:18:59 UTC
This should be fixed with the 2006.0 experimental amd64 livecd.
Comment 15 Jeffrey Forman (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-03-24 13:46:35 UTC
Moving to Release Media/Installer.
