Description Brian Beardall 2005-11-22 15:41:34 UTC
I can't get totem to play internet streams. I've tried shoutcast, and icecast,
and they won't play. Streaming stopped working after I upgraded from xine-lib
1.0.4. I get a "can not play file i.p.a.dress" This is also occurs with
xine-lib 1.1.1. Streaming does work BMPx and so I think that it is just a bug
with totem.

Comment 3 John Youells 2005-11-22 20:33:24 UTC
I'm getting the "No Demuxer found..." since upgrading to xine-lib-1.1.1-r1 with
both totem and gxine. Each version prior to 1.1.1-r1 worked for me with many am
radio streams. Mplayer still streams fine.

Comment 4 John Youells 2005-11-22 20:57:07 UTC
Just tested with media-libs/xine-lib-1.1.1 and streams fine. So it looks like
the error is in media-libs/xine-lib-1.1.1-r1.

Comment 5 Brian Beardall 2005-11-22 22:33:07 UTC
My error I said isn't totally correct. The actual error I get is

Totem could not play 'http://66.28.200.122:7080'.
There is no plugin to handle this movie.

I get this message when ever trying to stream shoutcast, and icecast streams.
Comment 6 Brian Beardall 2005-11-22 22:37:51 UTC
With debug output selected with totem I get these messages from xine-lib:

input_cache: read calls: 26, main input read calls: 11
input_cache: seek_calls: 6, main input seek calls: 1
xine: found input plugin : gnome-vfs input plugin as shipped with xine

xine: found input plugin : gnome-vfs input plugin as shipped with xine

I don't know why Totem is trying to use the gnome-vfs for internet streaming.
Comment 7 Diego Elio Pettenò (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-11-23 02:45:30 UTC
John your problem is that you didn't enable asf useflag.

Brian can you test with xine-ui?
Comment 8 Brian Beardall 2005-11-23 06:57:40 UTC
Listening to internet streams works in xine-ui, but not in totem.
Comment 9 John Youells 2005-11-30 20:21:24 UTC
adding 'asf' to USE fixed my problem with 1.1.1-r1 streams and also with some
windows media (wmv) files. Thanks Diego.
Comment 10 Mark <Line72> Dillavou 2006-02-02 05:40:31 UTC
adding +asf to xine-lib did NOT fix this for me, but compiling xine-lib with -gnome did fix it.
Comment 11 Brian Beardall 2006-02-02 16:54:06 UTC
Neither of the suggestions worked for my systems. Totem is the only program exibiting this bug.
Comment 12 Rémi Cardona (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-12-03 03:35:11 UTC
Brian,

Can you still reproduce this bug with the latest totem and xine-lib ? If you can, don't hesitate to reopen this bug. :)

Thanks
