I can't get totem to play internet streams. I've tried shoutcast, and icecast, and they won't play. Streaming stopped working after I upgraded from xine-lib 1.0.4. I get a "can not play file i.p.a.dress" This is also occurs with xine-lib 1.1.1. Streaming does work BMPx and so I think that it is just a bug with totem.
Here is the version of totem I am using with the current use flags. [ebuild R ] media-video/totem-1.2.0-r2 +a52 -debug +dvd +flac +gnome -lirc +mad +mpeg +nsplugin +ogg +theora +vorbis +win32codecs +xine +xv 0 kB

I'm getting the "No Demuxer found..." since upgrading to xine-lib-1.1.1-r1 with both totem and gxine. Each version prior to 1.1.1-r1 worked for me with many am radio streams. Mplayer still streams fine.
Just tested with media-libs/xine-lib-1.1.1 and streams fine. So it looks like the error is in media-libs/xine-lib-1.1.1-r1. My error I said isn't totally correct. The actual error I get is Totem could not play 'http://66.28.200.122:7080'. There is no plugin to handle this movie. I get this message when ever trying to stream shoutcast, and icecast streams.
With debug output selected with totem I get these messages from xine-lib: input_cache: read calls: 26, main input read calls: 11 input_cache: seek_calls: 6, main input seek calls: 1 xine: found input plugin : gnome-vfs input plugin as shipped with xine xine: input plugin cannot open MRL [http://66.28.200.122:7080] net_buf_ctrl: nbc_close net_buf_ctrl: nbc_close: done xine: cannot find input plugin for MRL [http://66.28.200.122:7080] xine: found input plugin : gnome-vfs input plugin as shipped with xine xine: input plugin cannot open MRL [http://66.28.200.122:7080] net_buf_ctrl: nbc_close I don't know why Totem is trying to use the gnome-vfs for internet streaming.
John your problem is that you didn't enable asf useflag. Brian can you test with xine-ui?
Listening to internet streams works in xine-ui, but not in totem.
adding 'asf' to USE fixed my problem with 1.1.1-r1 streams and also with some windows media (wmv) files. Thanks Diego.
adding +asf to xine-lib did NOT fix this for me, but compiling xine-lib with -gnome did fix it.
Neither of the suggestions worked for my systems. Totem is the only program exibiting this bug.
Brian, Can you still reproduce this bug with the latest totem and xine-lib ? If you can, don't hesitate to reopen this bug. :) Thanks
