The latest app-text/sword-1.5.8 version will cause gnomesword-2.1.1 to fail to start. A message box will appear announcing that the application has unexpected stopped, with the option to restart (which will not work). If started from the command line the same message box will appear, but there is no error output in the terminal. I was able to duplicate this on different x86 systems using the same ebuilds. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Emerge gnomesword-2.1.1 2.Emerge sword-1.5.8 3.Run gnomesword2 Actual Results: The application gnomesword crashed. Expected Results: Run as expected. # emerge info Portage 2.0.51.22-r3 (default-linux/x86/2005.1, gcc-3.3.6, glibc-2.3.5-r2, 2.6.13-gentoo-r5 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.13-gentoo-r5 i686 AMD Athlon(tm) XP 3200+ Gentoo Base System version 1.6.13 ccache version 2.3 [enabled] dev-lang/python: 2.4.2 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.12 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r6 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6-r1 sys-devel/binutils: 2.15.92.0.2-r10 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.20 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.11-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="i386-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-O2 -mcpu=i686" CHOST="i386-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.4/env /usr/kde/3.4/ share/config /usr/kde/3.4/shutdown /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/share/config /usr/share/ cursors/xorg-x11/default /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/env.d /etc/gconf /etc/init.d /etc/splash /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -mcpu=i686" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoconfig ccache distlocks sandbox sfperms strict usersandbox" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://mirror.usu.edu/mirrors/gentoo/ http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/ gentoo" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="x86 3dnow X a52 aac aalib acpi alsa apm arts audiofile avi berkdb bidi bitmap-fonts bmp bzip2 cdda cdio cdr crypt cups curl directfb dts dvd dvdr dvdread eds emboss encode exif expat fam fbcon ffmpeg flac foomaticdb fortran freetype gd gdbm ggi gif gimpprint glut gnome gnutls gpm gstreamer gtk gtk2 gtkhtml hal howl httpd imagemagick imlib ipv6 jack java javascript jpeg kde lcms libcaca libg++ libwww lirc live mad matroska mikmod mmx mng motif mp3 mpeg nas ncurses network nls nvidia ogg oggvorbis opengl oss pam pdflib perl png ppds python qt quicktime readline rtc sdl speel speex spell sse ssl stream svg svga tcpd theora tiff truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts udev unicode usb v4l v4l2 vcd vlm vorbis win32codecs wxwindows xanim xine xinerama xml2 xmms xpm xv xvid xvmc zlib userland_GNU kernel_linux elibc_glibc" Unset: ASFLAGS, CTARGET, LANG, LC_ALL, LDFLAGS, LINGUAS
please be mindful of the category you place these bugs in.
this package really isn't gnome, so its getting P5 for the moment.
On amd64 it won't even emerge properly - I get the following config.cc:30:21: unixstr.h: No such file or directory module_manager.cc:30:21: unixstr.h: No such file or directory module_manager.cc:81: error: no `void sword::InstallMgr::preDownloadStatus(long int, long int, const char*)' member function declared in class `sword::InstallMgr' module_manager.cc:102: error: no `void sword::InstallMgr::statusUpdate(double, double)' member function declared in class `sword::InstallMgr' make[3]: *** [module_manager.o] Error 1 make[3]: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs.... make[3]: *** [config.o] Error 1 make[3]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/gnomesword-2.1.1/work/gnomesword-2.1.1/src/backend' make[2]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1 make[2]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/gnomesword-2.1.1/work/gnomesword-2.1.1/src' make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/gnomesword-2.1.1/work/gnomesword-2.1.1' make: *** [all] Error 2 Portage 2.0.54 (default-linux/amd64/2006.0, gcc-3.4.4, glibc-2.3.5-r2, 2.6.15-gentoo-r7 x86_64) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.15-gentoo-r7 x86_64 AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3000+ Gentoo Base System version 1.6.14 distcc 2.18.3 x86_64-pc-linux-gnu (protocols 1 and 2) (default port 3632) [disabled] dev-lang/python: 2.4.2 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.12 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r6 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6-r1 sys-devel/binutils: 2.16.1 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.22 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.11-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="amd64 x86 ~amd64" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-march=k8 -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer -mmmx -msse -msse2" CHOST="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.4/env /usr/kde/3.4/share/config /usr/kde/3.4/shutdown /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/eselect/compiler /etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/texmf/web2c /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-march=k8 -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer -mmmx -msse -msse2" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoconfig distlocks sandbox sfperms strict" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://gentoo.blueyonder.co.uk ftp://mirrors.blueyonder.co.uk/mirrors/gentoo http://www.mirrorservice.org/sites/www.ibiblio.org/gentoo/ ftp://ftp.mirrorservice.org/sites/www.ibiblio.org/gentoo/" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.uk.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="amd64 X acpi alsa apache2 apm audiofile avi bash-completion berkdb bitmap-fonts bzip2 calendar cdb cdr cli crypt ctype cups dba dbus dga dio directfb dri dvd dvdr dvdread eds emacs emboss encode esd ethereal evo exif expat fam fastbuild fbcon ffmpeg flac flash foomaticdb force-cgi-redirect fortran ftp gd gdbm gif glut gnome gpm gps gstreamer gtk gtk2 gtkhtml guile hal icq idn ieee1394 imagemagick imap imlib ipv6 isdnlog jabber jack java javascript jikes joystick jpeg jpeg2k kde lcms ldap libg++ libwww lm_sensors lzw lzw-tiff mad memlimit mikmod mime ming mng motif mozilla mp3 mpeg msn ncurses nls nptl ogg openal opengl oscar oss pam pcre pda pdf pdflib perl php png posix pppd python qt quicktime readline recode samba scanner sdl session simplexml soap sockets socks5 spell spl ssl tcltk tcpd tetex threads tiff tokenizer truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts udev unicode usb vcd vorbis wmf xinerama xml xml2 xmlrpc xmms xosd xpm xsl xv xvid yahoo zlib userland_GNU kernel_linux elibc_glibc" Unset: ASFLAGS, CTARGET, INSTALL_MASK, LANG, LC_ALL, LDFLAGS, LINGUAS, PORTDIR_OVERLAY
I'd be happy to take this bug; please feel free to assign it to me, gnome team.
This should be fixed with gnomesword 2.1.7. Please test, and reopen if this does not work for you.
