Description Guillaume APOSTOLY 2002-11-27 07:47:57 UTC
I've tried with emerging mesa, mesa-glu, sgi-oss-glu. I've tried with an
"opengl-update xfree" or "opengl-update nvidia", i've got always the same result
 when i try to "emerge gle":

[...]
checking for gluNewQuadric in -lGLU... no
configure: error: Cannot find required GLU library

!!! ERROR: media-libs/gle-3.0.1-r2 failed.
!!! Function econf, Line 193, Exitcode 1
!!! econf failed

This library is needed for xscreensaver to work, thanks by advance for your help.

Here is mine:

-> /usr/lib/opengl/nvidia/lib/libGLcore.so.1.0.3123
nosferatu root #
------------------

If possible, i think it would be best to rm -f /usr/lib/libGL*, and then
remerge xfree and then nvidia-glx.

Let me know if you get back.
Comment 4 Guillaume APOSTOLY 2002-12-12 00:57:32 UTC
Hi !
I'm back from holiday and did try this (my PC recompiled xfree and nvidia-glx
that night). I still have the same problem.
Here's now the result of ls -l /usr/lib/libGL*
lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root           44 Dec 12 00:01 /usr/lib/libGL.so ->
/usr/lib/opengl/nvidia/lib/libGL.so.1.0.3123
lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root           44 Dec 12 00:01 /usr/lib/libGL.so.1 ->
/usr/lib/opengl/nvidia/lib/libGL.so.1.0.3123
-rw-r--r--    1 root     root       688836 Dec 12 00:00 /usr/lib/libGLU.a
-rw-r--r--    1 root     root          769 Dec 12 00:00 /usr/lib/libGLU.la
lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root           13 Dec 12 00:00 /usr/lib/libGLU.so ->
libGLU.so.1.3
lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root           13 Dec 12 00:00 /usr/lib/libGLU.so.1 ->
libGLU.so.1.3
-rwxr-xr-x    1 root     root       596973 Dec 12 00:00 /usr/lib/libGLU.so.1.3
lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root           48 Dec 12 00:01 /usr/lib/libGLcore.so ->
/usr/lib/opengl/nvidia/lib/libGLcore.so.1.0.3123
lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root           48 Dec 12 00:01 /usr/lib/libGLcore.so.1
-> /usr/lib/opengl/nvidia/lib/libGLcore.so.1.0.3123

I'm ready for any testing, does it work on your side ???
Comment 5 Martin Schlemmer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-12-15 17:40:08 UTC
It seems fine. Paste 'ls -l /usr/X11R6/lib/libGL*' please.
Comment 6 Guillaume APOSTOLY 2002-12-20 17:12:14 UTC
Here it is, sorry for the delay ...

bash-2.05b# ls -l /usr/X11R6/lib/libGL*
-rw-r--r--    1 root     root       710028 Jun  4  2002 /usr/X11R6/lib/libGLU.a
-rw-r--r--    1 root     root          764 Jun  4  2002 /usr/X11R6/lib/libGLU.la
lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root           13 Jun  4  2002 /usr/X11R6/lib/libGLU.so
-> libGLU.so.1.3
lrwxrwxrwx    1 root     root           13 Jun  4  2002
/usr/X11R6/lib/libGLU.so.1 -> libGLU.so.1.3
-rwxr-xr-x    1 root     root       555236 Jun  4  2002 /usr/X11R6/lib/libGLU.so.1.3
-rw-r--r--    1 root     root        27300 Dec 12 00:00 /usr/X11R6/lib/libGLw.a
Comment 7 Martin Schlemmer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-12-21 11:20:22 UTC
Hmm, that should not be .. here is mine:

nosferatu root # ls /usr/X11R6/lib/libGL*
/usr/X11R6/lib/libGLw.a
nosferatu root #

Try something like:

 # rm -f /usr/X11R6/lib/libGLU*

and let me know if it fixes things.
Comment 8 Martin Schlemmer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-12-25 18:31:39 UTC
Hi, tried what I suggested in my last comment ?
Comment 9 Guillaume APOSTOLY 2002-12-26 03:02:06 UTC
Works now, but i'm not sure if this is because of new packages versions or the
fix you asked me ...
Thanks a lot, still :o)
Comment 10 Martin Schlemmer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-12-26 13:22:04 UTC
It should be the fix ... if libGLU is in /usr/X11R6/lib with our setup,
it causes things to break ... Great to hear you have it solved :)
