mail-filter/maildrop-1.8.0-r3 dies with the glibc error: "glibc detected double free or corruption 00007FFFFFxxxxxx" when compiled with CFLAGS="-march=k8 -Os -pipe" on the AMD64 architecture. The problem stops presenting itself when maildrop is compiled with CFLAGS="-march=k8 -O2 -pipe." -Os doesn't seem like an incredibly extreme CFLAG. mail-filter/maildrop-1.8.0-r3 sys-devel/gcc-3.4.4-r1 sys-libs/glibc-2.3.5-r2 Portage 2.0.51.22-r3 (default-linux/amd64/2005.1, gcc-3.4.4, glibc-2.3.5-r2, 2.6.13-gentoo-r5 x86_64) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.13-gentoo-r5 x86_64 AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4400+ Gentoo Base System version 1.6.13 dev-lang/python: 2.3.5-r2, 2.4.2 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.12 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r6 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6-r1 sys-devel/binutils: 2.15.92.0.2-r10 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.20 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.11-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="amd64" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-march=k8 -Os -pipe" CHOST="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/share/config /usr/share/texmf/dvipdfm/config/ /usr/share/texmf/dvips/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/platex/config/ /usr/share/texmf/xdvi/ /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-march=k8 -Os -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoconfig distlocks sandbox sfperms strict" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://distfiles.gentoo.org http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/gentoo" MAKEOPTS="-j3" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="amd64 X Xaw3d a52 aac acl alsa aotuv ares async audiofile avi berkdb bitmap-fonts bl bonobo bzip2 cap cddb cdparanoia cdr cjk crypt cscope cups curl dga doc dvd dvdr dvdread emboss encode examples exif expat flac gcj gd gdbm gif gimpprint glut graphviz gs gstreamer gtk gtk2 guile hpn imagemagick imlib java javascript jbig jpeg kde kerberos lcms ldap libwww live lzo lzw lzw-tiff mad maildir matroska mikmod mng mozsvg mp3 mpeg ncurses nls nptl nptlonly nsplugin nvidia objc odbc ofx ogg opengl pam pcre pdflib perl plotutils png postgres pwdb python quicktime readline real rle rtc ruby samba sdl slang smp sndfile speex spell ssl svg tcpd tetex tga theora tiff truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts udev unicode usb userlocales vcd vim-with-x vorbis winbind wmf xine xml xml2 xmms xpm xprint xv xvid zlib userland_GNU kernel_linux elibc_glibc" Unset: ASFLAGS, CTARGET, LANG, LC_ALL, LDFLAGS, LINGUAS, PORTDIR_OVERLAY
Yeah, thats a known issue. I want to push 2.0.1 to stable which fixes some memory corruptions and also replaces -Os with -O2 to be on the safe side. You might want to try that one. Reopen if 2.0.1 fails for you. Cheers, Ferdy
Been using 2.0.1 for about a week now with no problems. Thanks, Rob
