The integrated realtec NIC on my MSI RS482M4 motherboard seems to be UP and RUNNING, but pinging domain names or IP addresses doesn't work. I get unknown host and network unavailable errors respectively. Workaround: start up dhcpcd by "dhcpcd". It will complain about some file indicating that it is already running. RM that file. Now dhcpcd will correctly set up my NIC and nameservers and gateway. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.boot kernel image gentoo 2.try to ping something 3. Actual Results: network doesn't work Expected Results: network should have been set up correctly
So your machine is getting an IP address, then failing, or not getting one at all? If it is not getting one at all, then this is INVALID completely, since the Handbook instructs you to run net-setup to configure your NIC if it is not already configured.
No response and we've had a new release media set since this was filed.
