Hi, sorry for bugging but to this case "bug" I have: Error - KDesktop The KDE mediamanager is not running When I run revdep-rebuild I get hal and ivman that are in this broken list. So, I would like to kindly ask if you can come up with a solution to my current bug problem, so that I can resume my revdep-rebuild. Also, as for KDE mediamanager not running I do not know if it is a bug or just a screw up package installation (it all started after I emerge -uD world) but what do you advice me to do? I also have a gentoo forum openend but I won't post it here as I have been told not to post links. Please let me know as soon as you could. I appreciate your help, Spiro

That error sounds like a problem with libtool, can you try re-emerging it?
(In reply to comment #10) > That error sounds like a problem with libtool, can you try re-emerging it? Good call. In my case, re-merging libtool seems to resolve the issue. Thanks.
I encounter exactly the same bug on ~x86 during the update to the GCC 3.4.4 compiler, so it appears to be not only for AMD64. The error-message as well as the content of cat /var/tmp/portage/libdts-0.0.2-r3/temp/autoconf-****.out is the same as in the first post. I've tried to emerge libtool again before trying a re-emerge. That is not the solution. Note that the one it this thread that does not have troubles uses GCC 4.0 as a compiler. I'm running out of ideas, moving to toolchain that might know something more.
toolchain doesnt maintain autotools
Sorry I don't know why I was sure it was tc.. it's libtool the problem tho. And Mike, it's always you ;)
not really ... looks more like your fancy autotools eclass is doing something wrong notice from the output that it fails to run libtoolize before autoconf
You're welcome to take a look to autotools eclass, I can't find anything wrong there, and I cannot reproduce the bug in any way... IMHO the problem is still with libtool.
(In reply to comment #14) > I'm running out of ideas, moving to toolchain that might know something more. > I had the same exact problem with libdts-0.0.2-r3 on my AMD64 system. However I found a temporary solution: $ export ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~amd64" && emerge libdts This compiled libdts-0.0.2-r3 successfully and there was no error running autoconf. Why -- I do not know, but it worked. No other changes were made. The same exact package (0.0.2-r3) does not compile unless you export the ~amd64 keyword.

sounds similar to bug 117091, except listing in package.keywords doesn't fix that one as it does for this one
I now had the exact same error here. Interestingly, running it a second time it completed without an error. I retried it several times to get the error back... Okay, please test now after a sync (one hour since this message, or something about that), the missing libtoolize might have been caused by the tracing being ran with autoconf 2.1 (that does not support tracing), I'm forcing 2.5 on the tracing, as that works for both 2.1 and 2.5. Please try and tell me if you can reproduce the problem still.
re-emerging libtool fixed on my system as well and this is a first build system.. never had kde or anything on it before so i don't know why re-emerging libtool would have made a difference.
Odd behavior indeed... libdts died here with the same error in /var/tmp/portage/libdts-0.0.2-r3/temp/autoconf-3122.out : configure.ac:80: error: possibly undefined macro: AC_LIBTOOL_WIN32_DLL If this token and others are legitimate, please use m4_pattern_allow. See the Autoconf documentation. configure.ac:81: error: possibly undefined macro: AC_PROG_LIBTOOL However, I restarted the emerge and it worked fine the second time....
Reproduced. This was during a emerge -e world, a reboot and emerge --resume solved the problem. Me as well. It's occurred twice during three attempts at "emerge -e world" - I think it was a slightly newer glibc that prompted me to do that in the first place. It's also occurred when I Ctrl-C'd from an appartently healthy "emerge libdts" and then said "emerge --resume". OK, one "emerge libtool && reboot" later, and the problem's still here. I've found a way of always reproducing it. emerge libdts # Hit Ctrl-C as soon as you see the compiling output emerge --resume Sure enough, as Andre Hinrichs pointed out earlier, the ebuild only fails when libtoolize isn't run. Maybe a fix would be to edit the ebuild to ensure it always runs?

When you change an ebuild you have to recreate the checksums with: ebuild <ebuild-filename> digest
(In reply to comment #36) > When you change an ebuild you have to recreate the checksums with: > > ebuild <ebuild-filename> digest > ahhh, thanks...I didn't know what to do with it so I just googled it and only the patch -p1 line was there.
The m4 problem is fixed now, the other problem is probably unrelated.
Same problem with x86, and the patched version of the ebuild hasn't hit the tree yet. The fix seems to work though.
For me it worked with the patch from comment 34 but I also had to remove the visibility patch since that one was producing errors. (I'm using ~AMD64 here.)

I was getting this problem on x86, during an emerge -e world. I fixed it by running emerge -pv libdts in another terminal, then running emerge --resume, and it resumed flawlessly. Seemed like maybe emerge -pv libdts created a file that it wanted, that emerge --resume wasn'td oing.
seems to be fixed in r5, cannot reproduce this, anybody can confirm ?
