When you save several latex-mode buffers with the emacs command 'desktop-save' and later restart emacs, only one of the LaTeX buffers is loaded, whereas for all others, an error message ('1 buffer restored, ... buffers failed to restore') is issued. I experienced this with both preview-latex-0.8.1 and 0.9.1. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start emacs with preview-latex enabled, i.e., (require 'preview) in your .emacs 2. Load two or more *.tex files in latex-mode. 3. Type M-x desktop-save RET. 4. Quit emacs 5. Restart emacs in the same directory Actual Results: One of the *.tex files is restored, the others are not. An error message appears. Expected Results: All buffers should be reloaded in latex-mode. The bug as well as a patch have been reported to, and apparently approved by, David Kastrup, author/maintainer of preview-latex. You can find it here: http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-auctex/2005-04/msg00006.html The patch uploaded by Ralf Angeli in that post fixed the problem for me. Unless you want to wait for a newer release of preview-latex, where this patch will probably already be included, you might consider incorporating it in your preview-latex-0.{8,9}.1.ebuilds.
preview-latex is now part of AUCTeX. I guess this bug can be closed as soon as auctex-11.81 goes stable.
As it is an upstream issue, I close this bug, but I also open up a stabilisation bug for the newer AUCTeX
