following from the previous bug " Bugzilla Bug 9931 balsa 2.0.3 ebuild" I managed to install balsa 2.0.3 using the provided ebuild and patch from that fix. however, i have realized that I can not set actions properly for filters in balsa mail client. Not sure if its related to gentoo or if its a bug on balsa program itself. But i'd appreciate your comment on it.
The patches are all configuration patches, don't have anything todo with the balsa sourcecode. First you might want to ease down on optimisations. Then you might want to have a look at the balsa bugzilla if theres a bug like yours. Remember altough the gnome2 port of balsa is quite mature, it still isn't considered completely stable afaik.
