Description Daniel Drake (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-11-03 17:00:08 UTC
I just committed media-sound/easytag-1.99.9 and had to drop arch support for
alpha, sparc, and ppc64. Easytag now optionally depends on mpeg4ip-1.3 which is
not available on those archs.
Comment 1 Max 2005-11-03 23:55:33 UTC
As I also stated in http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=97936, mpeg4ip 1.3
does not build correctly. My system (amd64, --info below) b0rks it, but the
above mentioned bugreport tells of a lot more people having trouble emerging
mpeg4ip on both amd64 and x86 systems. Essentially, this breaks easytag too, or
at least it breaks it with an aac USE flag.
Comment 2 Max 2005-11-03 23:56:16 UTC
Forgot the --info:

I cannot get mpeg4ip to merge on x86. I get the following message:

 * libfaac is compiled against libmp4v2
 * Please remove faad2 and mpeg4ip then recompile faac

Following the these instructions does not help, merging of mpeg4ip still fails.

Consequently, easytag-1.99.9 is broken for me on x86.
Comment 4 Olivier Crete (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-11-04 08:16:01 UTC

> Following the these instructions does not help, merging of mpeg4ip still fails.

Does it still fail with the same error or while building ? Do you still have
/usr/lib/libmp4v2.* after unmerging mpeg4ip and faad2. Which package owns it?
(you can find our using "equery belongs" or other similar tools)
Comment 5 Didier Link 2005-11-04 13:40:49 UTC
Same deadlock on ~amd64.

I've uninstalled faad2 and flac for emerging mpeg4ip without problem. Well I
reinstall flac with success to. When I want update easytag I've this blocking
error :

neutrino ~ # emerge -Dupv world

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating world dependencies ...done!
[blocks B ] media-video/mpeg4ip (is blocking media-libs/faad2-2.0-r7)
[ebuild N ] media-libs/faad2-2.0-r7 -xmms 0 kB
[ebuild U ] media-sound/easytag-1.99.9 [1.99.7] +aac +flac* +nls +vorbis
1,298 kB

faad2 is needed by ffmpeg, for the moment I disabled aac support in easytag as a
(bad) workaround.

Comment 6 Guillaume Castagnino 2005-11-05 00:17:07 UTC
Same problem here, some apps like ffmpeg and avidemux needs faad2 and is
blocking mpeg4ip needed by easytag...
Comment 7 Sebastian 2005-11-10 20:51:05 UTC
Hi all!

I'm trying to change the User Preferences of easytag 1.99.9. It just doesn't
work :)

I change the settings and then I hit either "Save" or "Apply" but the settings
panel just stays open. Only way to close it is the "Cancel" button. And using
"Cancel" resets all my changes :)

I remember an earlier GTK2 version working for me. I think it was 1.99.6
or .7. I didn't try .8. Can you take a look at this, please?

Thanks

Hi,

>I'm trying to change the User Preferences of easytag 1.99.9. It just doesn't
>work :)

I have exactly the same problem with easytag 1.99.9.

My output of "emerge info" :

I don't have the problem with the 1.99.7 version
Comment 9 Daniel Drake (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-12-08 13:28:56 UTC
easytag-1.99.10 is in the tree. It solves the above problem with the
configuration dialog.

I also disabled the AAC/MP4 support due to the mess in this bug and others, so
I'd be grateful if the following arches could rekeyword this: hppa ppc ppc64 sparc
Comment 10 Jason Wever (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-12-18 13:54:55 UTC

Comment 11 Markus Rothe (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-12-19 03:06:53 UTC

Comment 12 Olivier Crete (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-12-19 21:44:32 UTC
I've just added media-libs/libmp4v2 to the tree.. its the lib that easytag uses from mpeg4ip. so you dont need to depend on the whole shebang. Easytag compiles ok against it on amd64.
Comment 13 Daniel Drake (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-01-02 07:46:37 UTC
Ok, 1.9.11 is now in the tree, with the aac use-flag to depend on libmp4v2.

hppa, ppc, alpha: Your keywords have been DROPPED in the newer easytag versions due to new (optional) dependencies. Please keyword media-libs/libmp4v2 and then media-sound/easytag-1.9.11

Thanks!
Comment 14 Patrizio Bassi 2006-01-03 13:53:00 UTC
i have a compilation error with 1.9.11.

should i add a new bug or poste here?
Comment 15 kaouete 2006-01-03 22:14:58 UTC
i have one too, just post a new bug.
Comment 16 Joe Jezak (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-01-08 10:40:25 UTC
Marked 1.99.11 ~ppc.
Comment 17 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-01-08 13:43:09 UTC
Marked ~hppa.
Comment 18 Thomas Cort (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-01-09 20:12:33 UTC
I tested easytag-1.99.11 on alpha and didn't have any problems tagging mp3 or ogg files, scanning directories for tagable media files, generating playlists (which i tested in xmms), or playing the audio files after altering the tags (tested using their audio player launcher which launched xmms).

media-libs/libmp4v2, a new dependency of easytag, will need ~alpha too. I didn't experience any problems emerge'ing libmp4v2 and didn't have any problems running easytag.
Comment 19 Dirk Silkenbäumer 2006-01-17 13:03:05 UTC
Hi there,
emerge with +aac is still broken.

Calculating dependencies ...done!
[blocks B ] <media-libs/faad2-2.0-r9 (is blocking media-libs/libmp4v2-1.4.1)
[ebuild N ] media-libs/id3lib-3.8.3-r3 -doc 928 kB
[ebuild N ] media-libs/libmp4v2-1.4.1 4,678 kB
[ebuild N ] media-sound/easytag-1.99.11 +aac +flac +mp3 +nls +vorbis 1,318 kB

Compiling with -aac runs without error. Easytag 1.99.11 is up and running so far.
