Description Kit Fenderson-Peters 2005-11-03 04:07:29 UTC
Whilst attemtping to read my mail via IMAP+SSL, Kmail crashed. This is not a
new occurrence, so I attempted to restart it. I was presented with the
following message:

"Communication problem with kmail, it probably crashed."

I have attempted to remove ~/.kde/share/apps/kmail/lock to no avail.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. start kmail after it has crashed

Actual Results:
I get the message "Communication problem with kmail, it probably crashed."

Expected Results:
Kmail should have started normally.

Comment 2 Gregorio Guidi (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-11-05 09:55:16 UTC
Does it happen after a reboot? There could be a leftover kmail process around.
Have you got a backtrace?

Comment 3 Marcus D. Hanwell (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-11-27 09:04:37 UTC
You didn't mention which version of kmail you are using. I have encountered
similar issues and it has been necessary to remove .kde/share/apps/kmail/imap
due to corrupted cache issues. There are open bugs upstream on this issue.
Comment 4 Kit Fenderson-Peters 2005-11-27 09:46:50 UTC
I believe it was Kmail 1.8.3
Comment 5 Gregorio Guidi (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-05-31 09:44:08 UTC
Probably this is not reproducible anymore, please reopen if you have new info.
