Whilst attemtping to read my mail via IMAP+SSL, Kmail crashed. This is not a new occurrence, so I attempted to restart it. I was presented with the following message: "Communication problem with kmail, it probably crashed." I have attempted to remove ~/.kde/share/apps/kmail/lock to no avail. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. start kmail after it has crashed Actual Results: I get the message "Communication problem with kmail, it probably crashed." Does it happen after a reboot? There could be a leftover kmail process around. Have you got a backtrace?
You didn't mention which version of kmail you are using. I have encountered similar issues and it has been necessary to remove .kde/share/apps/kmail/imap due to corrupted cache issues. There are open bugs upstream on this issue.
I believe it was Kmail 1.8.3
Probably this is not reproducible anymore, please reopen if you have new info.
