Description Hanno Böck gentoo-dev 2002-11-22 13:33:31 UTC
I have a problem that icewm doesn't compile on a machine.
I tried all three versions currently in portage.
I get this error while linking:
i586-pc-linux-gnu-gcc: @LDFLAGS@: No such file or directory
i586-pc-linux-gnu-gcc: @SUPPORT_LIBS@: No such file or directory

If I remove the @LDFLAGS@ and @SUPPORT_LIBS@ from the src/Makefile after
configure, it works.

please change i586-pc-linux-gnu-gcc to i686 in your make.conf, that's gonna
cause you all kinds of trouble

works fine here.

Well, this computer is no i686, it's a simple pentium 133.

I've tried to update icewm on this machine to 1.2.3, but i get the same error.

bcowan, can you explain me exactly why i should change i586 to i686 and if this
will cause me any trouble since it's only a pentium 133?

well this CHOST problem has cropped up on quite a few packages...that work
around is very dirty and was just a "quick" fix, I haven't hacked any of the
fixes myself, and will have to find someone who has fixed this problem on other
packages

drobbins commited a new build, and I just bumped to 1.2.5, I'm gonna close for now
