Description Samuli Suominen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-10-28 07:25:38 UTC
It's hard to install gimp. It has old dependencies of virtual/x11
and gimp-print. In order to emerge it succesfully I need to:

a) Downgrade or uninstall gimp-print that works great with gimp.
b) Install gimp with --nodeps.
c) Install new gimp-print back, or upgrade from old one to have drivers for me
printer.

Maybe gimp dependencies could be fixed so that 5.0.0 would satisfy gimp, and
xorg-server and other components would satisfy X11 need.

I've seen similar bugreports of this before though, but no solution.

drac ~ # emerge -av gimp

Comment 1 Jakub Moc (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-10-28 07:46:49 UTC
This has nothing to do with gimp-print (which does not block anything and there
are tons of duplicates of Bug 75918). Anyway, modularized X ebuilds are in
package.mask. Changing summary and severity.
