I recently emerged vpnc 0.3.3 and i can't connect to my favourite vpn. I'm running a stable system with iproute2-2.6.11.20050310-r1 and vpnc gives me the following error message when connecting: Error: either "to" is duplicate, or "metric10" is a garbage. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Install vpnc-0.3.3 2.try to connect to a vpn 3. Expected Results: On a ~x86 system everything runs fine. There iproute2-2.6.11.20050330-r1 is running and seems to produce a compatible output. In the vpnc mailing list the bug is mentioned "from the other side" http://lists.unix-ag.uni-kl.de/pipermail/vpnc-devel/2005-May/000657.html There is a problem with the iproute output on old/new systems, so if you install vpnc-0.3.3 it soul dperhaps depend on the new iproute version
Created attachment 71640 [details, diff] vpnc-script-ipmetric.patch I confirm this here. Attached patch fixes the vpnc-script with the "official" solution. So, please either apply this patch or depend on a later ip version.
This really is major. Why not fix it?
