Description Michael Imhof (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-11-21 13:19:01 UTC
Hi Daniel!

As the complete list of packages has been removed from our web-site some other
web sites that used it to keep their information about gentoo up2date are
running into problems (mainly www.distrowatch.com).

I contaced ladislav@distrowatch.com about this and pointed out a possible
solution to him.

The script that generates our package index for the web (in dyn/...)
gentoo-src/gentoo-xml/scripts/pkgs.py is run by crond and pipes out a complete
package-list (including versions) at runtime. I posted Ladislav a snippet of the
list and he told me that this would be fine.

The solution to the problem is changing crontab to pipe the list into a file
(pkgs.py > all-packages.txt) and make that file available on the web, so
Ladislav can use it.

Greetings
Michael

Hi Daniel!

are you working on this one?
Comment 2 Nicholas Jones (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-12-01 22:51:13 UTC
I've got an x86 list going via crontab you can use. Until we get something
else running. It isn't up-to-the-minute, but generally will be updated
at least every other day. Normally two or three times a day.

The generating script is at:
