Both of them are in portage. open_c-lit is masked (~x86) fetch restricted (DMCA?) and version 1.4 convertlit is stable, NOT fetch restricted and version 1.8 Both of them install /usr/bin/clit emerge does NOT report conflict on /usr/bin/clit if you try to install both. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
i'll just make the two packages block each other
they now block in cvs
Sorry to bother you again with this stupid bug, but I realized that I didn't explain well in my first post (my fault). My original title was "open_c-lit and convertlit are the same program" and I didn't meant that they install an executable with the same name, but that they are the very SAME program which original name is convertlit. As report in first post: open_c-lit is masked (~x86) fetch restricted (DMCA?) and version 1.4 convertlit is stable, NOT fetch restricted and version 1.8 My thought is that open_c-lit should be removed from portage. The legal status of this program in US and other countries seems unclear, so I don't know if the fetch restriction also to convertlit should be applied in order to avoid having it in US based mirrors. Sorry again for my mistake
open_c-lit existed before convertlit (i.e. it has a "more original" upstream), but converlit is kept more up-to-date so i dont see any issues with going with what you propose ... just punting open_c-lit and tweaking convertlit
open_c-lit is no longer in portage, thanks for the heads up
