Hi, How hard would it be to have a mostly binary openoffice ebuild, plus some source compilation to get things like KDE-integration, and more importantly ;) the Gentoo splash screen? Maybe only leave uncompiled the USE flag dependent source code, and make the rest binary? (I guess some of the USE flags might touch all of the source, maybe NPTL for example. In cases of "performance" related USE flags, just choose compatibility, kind of like the all binary packages do now.) Thanks for you work! C. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
Gentoo is source only with rare exceptions and upstream provides the binary tarball. No one creates an extra binary Gentoo OOo. Aside from this you get a KDE lookalike OOo-bin when you enable the kde use flag.
