!!! Build failed!
!!! If you need support, post the topmost build error, NOT this status message.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge -u openoffice-ximian
2. go to bed, then to work the next couple days (did I mention this is an Ultra10?)
3. check back with emerge and notice failure
Actual Results:
emerge failed with above message

Expected Results:
I would have a new shiny instance of openoffice

First the basic questions: Are you sure you had enough free diskspace (4-6 Gigs)
before building. Also do you have enough RAM (256 MB+)
Comment 2 Rick Born 2005-10-23 08:32:01 UTC
I have exactly 256 meg, I know it is a little on the light side but it is an old
machine and 1.3.14 compiled fine. I was watching disk space during the compile
and it never dropped below 2 gig available so I don't think that is the issue
(it started with 5 gig available). I have 2 Ultra 10's that are exhibiting this
problem (both are the same except the one at work has a larger drive).

This machine was compiled everything so far so it is kind of a quest of mine not
to install binary packages even if it is faster.

thanks,
Rick

Reassigning as I can't test this
Comment 4 Jeffrey Forman (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-10-24 05:25:28 UTC
I'm going to take this one.

Andreas,
Would you say that it is better to test OOo-2 rather than OO-ximian in this case?
Comment 5 Andreas Proschofsky (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-10-24 06:32:51 UTC
Definately, if someone could test OOo 2.0 on sparc and keyword it, that would be
great. OOo 2.0 is definately the way to go...
Comment 6 Rick Born 2005-10-24 12:40:39 UTC
I can try to emerge 2.0. Would just consist of adding this ebuild to my
portage overlay directory? Both my Suns are somewhat low end (Ultra 10's) but
seem to work fine on everything that has a ~sparc keyword.

Let me know if you want me to attempt this

Rick
Comment 7 Jeffrey Forman (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-10-24 21:58:35 UTC
I just tossed OOo2 into my overlay and keyworded it. i've been compiling it
since about 858am, and it is about 1256am the next day. I am on a blade 1000,
with 2xUSIII 750mhz with 1GB of ram and 18GB fcal. crossing my fingers it completes.

Comment 8 Andreas Proschofsky (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-10-28 05:08:18 UTC
Jeffrey: What about keywording openoffice-2.0.0 with ~sparc? Would be great to
have this, so that we can close this bug (and tell people to move on)
Comment 9 Gustavo Zacarias (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-10-28 05:57:25 UTC
1.3.16 builds for me on the new stuff(tm).
Suka: Is it possible to build/use 2.0.0 without java at all? We'll be dropping
java support completely for the new stuff(tm) since the jvm is old and it
doesn't seem blackdown will ever do 1.4.2 for linux/sparc and 1.5 remains to be
seen.
Comment 10 Jeffrey Forman (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-10-28 06:19:44 UTC
2.0.0 built for me, but i had to throw in a patch from suka to get it to be able
to save in ODT format. this is all -java

i havent been able to get it to build +java because it requires ant-core, which
definitely bombs out on my blade 1000:
http://dev.gentoo.org/~jforman/ant-core.sparc.output
Comment 11 Gustavo Zacarias (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-10-28 06:21:23 UTC
Thanks Jeff, i'll give it a spin during the weekend on the new stuff(tm) and see
if it's safe.
Comment 12 Andreas Proschofsky (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-10-28 08:41:02 UTC
@Gustavo: Yes it is possible to build and run without java, we had some
unfortunate bug regarding this, but this is fixed now
Comment 13 Andreas Proschofsky (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-11-01 13:47:31 UTC
As OOo 2.0.0 is now keyworded ~sparc, closing this, please use the new version
instead.
