Using pci nvidia card on k6-2, 
 A couple of things
	1 If I switch to tty1 (or any other tty) and then back to X 
the whole system freezes. Get a blck screen with some smeared dots and 
keybd will not take any input.
	2  If I shut down the X server the prompt is a couple of pink dots
and not the usual block :/ Weird!?

you using framebuffers ?  if so, what driver ?
what driver are you using in X ?

 Removed framebuffer support from kernel have not had it recur since.
The driver was nvidia and nvidia-glx support was built in not loaded
by X in XF86Config. I believe that kernel had both vesa and nvidia
framebuffer support and the nvidia one was recognized and loaded.
MTRR support was also compiled in. Kernel was lolo-sources-r2.
   This happened in both gnome 2 and openbox. 
   The card is pci GX200 32mb..No agp was not built in. Can't remeber
if DRI was or not. System is k6-2 450

Known issue with rivafb and nvidia drivers.  Either nvidia or kernel people
need to fix this.
