Description Yang Dehua 2005-10-20 20:49:00 UTC
I tried to emerge gtk+-2.8.6, together with glib-2.8.2,and both were emerged
successfully. But I couldn't use nautilus under my gnome-2.10: its window frame
flickered continuously until the frame got away and left "naked" nautilus
behind, whenever I moved the mouse cursor over the buttons of the frame or icons
on the nautilus toolbar. I tried a terminal window too, it functioned as
expected. Is it a known problem with gtk+-2.8.6, or a problem specific on my system?

you need to use gnome 2.12 with those versions
Comment 2 Yang Dehua 2005-10-24 18:08:23 UTC
Thank you for your comments. I emerged gnome-2.12.0 yestoday, and tried to probe
a little bit. The problem was just as before. Here is my emerge info:

Comment 3 Yang Dehua 2005-10-29 02:35:27 UTC
I cann't figure out why this bug was "RESOLVED". In fact I tried many times of
the gnome-2.12 and related packages, but the problem persisted as before. I'll
be very grateful if somebody could tell me his/her seccessful stories about
installation of gnome-2.12 or using gtk+-2.8.x on gentoo ppc64 linux.
Comment 4 Aldo "xoen" Giambelluca 2005-11-21 09:34:44 UTC
Hi, have you also tried GTK+ 2.8.7? Did the problem persist?
Comment 5 Yang Dehua 2005-12-08 05:53:54 UTC
I just tried gtk+-2.8.8, the problem was same as before. I think the problem may
have something to do Xorg rendering functions.
Comment 6 Yang Dehua 2006-01-09 02:12:13 UTC
I was wrong. I found the problem had something to do with fonts.conf and local.conf files. By trying different configurations finally I corrected them, and gtk+-2.8.x worked. I emerged gnome-2.12.0 on my ppc64, and it worked even though there was a problem concerning with desktop backgrounds(when having a wall paper).

good to hear it worked out for you.
