configure script fails unable to find /usr/src/linux/arch/x86 directory. I fixed this with a symbolic link to /usr/src/linux/arch/i386 [ugh!], and the configure script later failed with "Unsupported kernel version". Best leave this to someone that knows what they're doing. It doesn't seem to like the texinfo documentation file either, but that's not a show-stopper. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Amend package.keywords appropriately first, because this is a masked package. bash# emerge ciped Actual Results: newton2 ~ # emerge cipe Calculating dependencies ...done! >>> emerge (1 of 1) net-misc/cipe-1.5.4 to / >>> md5 files ;-) cipe-1.5.4.ebuild >>> md5 files ;-) files/cipe-1.5.4-gentoo.patch >>> md5 files ;-) files/digest-cipe-1.5.4 >>> md5 files ;-) files/init.d-ciped >>> md5 src_uri ;-) cipe-1.5.4.tar.gz >>> md5 src_uri ;-) cipe-1.5.1.texinfo >>> Unpacking source... >>> Unpacking cipe-1.5.4.tar.gz to /var/tmp/portage/cipe-1.5.4/work >>> Unpacking cipe-1.5.1.texinfo to /var/tmp/portage/cipe-1.5.4/work unpack cipe-1.5.1.texinfo: file format not recognized. Under the 2.4 kernel this was a very straightforward affair and built cleanly. newton2 ~ # emerge info Portage 2.0.51.22-r3 (default-linux/x86/2005.0, gcc-3.3.6, glibc-2.3.5-r2, 2.6.1 3-gentoo-r3 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.13-gentoo-r3 i686 Pentium II (Deschutes) Gentoo Base System version 1.6.13 ccache version 2.3 [disabled] dev-lang/python: 2.3.5-r2, 2.4.2 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.12 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r6 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6-r1 sys-devel/binutils: 2.15.92.0.2-r10 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.20 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.11-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-O2 -mcpu=i686 -march=i686 -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.4/env /usr/kde/3.4/share /config /usr/kde/3.4/shutdown /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/shar e/config /var/bind /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -mcpu=i686 -march=i686 -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoconfig distlocks sandbox sfperms strict" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://gentoo.math.bme.hu http://gentoo.osuosl.org/ http://gd.tu wien.ac.at/opsys/linux/gentoo/ ftp://mirrors1.netvisao.pt/gentoo/" MAKEOPTS="-j5" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.uk.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="alsa apm arts avi berkdb bitmap-fonts cdparanoia cdr crypt curl dbase dbm d ivx4linux dvd dvdr dvdread eds emboss encode f77 ffmpeg foomaticdb fortran ftp g d gdbm gif gpm gstreamer gtk gtk2 imagemagick imlib ipv6 jpeg kde lcms ldap libg ++ libwww mad mbox mikmod milter mng mp3 mpeg ncurses nls nptl ogg oggvorbis ope ngl oss pam pdflib perl png python readline samba sdl slang sox ssl svga tcpd ti ff truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts vorbis win32codecs x86 xml2 xv xvid zlib userland_GNU kernel_linux elibc_glibc" Unset: ASFLAGS, CTARGET, LANG, LC_ALL, LDFLAGS, LINGUAS, PORTDIR_OVERLAY
