I have an Acer notebook with a fancy mail button. Under Windows it blinks if there is new mail in Outlook. Sylpheed-Claws now has support for this feature via the "acpi notifier" plugin. According to [1] it requires Sylpheed-Clwas 1.9.14, but I successfully compiled it for 1.9.13 without any code modifications. I've written an ebuild for it (or rather copied and modified sylpheed-claws-cachesaver-0.5.ebuild), but I am not sure whether I have to add app-laptop/acerhk and app-laptop/acpi4asus as DEPENDs (possibly with local USE-flags "acer" and "asus"). Since I had app-laptop/acerhk installed it worked fine for me, but I'm not sure whether it will work without any special keyboard modules. The ebuild may require some ewarn or einfo messages, so that the user is aware that she has to configure the hotkeys first. I think it's already in? packages.gentoo.org/ebuilds/?sylpheed-claws-acpi-notifier-0.3
I know. I opened this bug before it was in portage and before bug #111481 was in bugzilla. It can be closed now.
Closing. Thanks for caring!
