i dont really know whats happening. i had xandros on the machince previously and i formatted the drive to place this on it cause it was also KDE. so when i put in the live cd on my toshiba a70 laptop hooked to my broadband internet i do as follows; boot device manager and boot from the cd. when it gets to the command line i booted just plain gentoo. it loaded booted the correct devices. now i wait for it to load the osonce its complete i load the icon on the desktop to install the os. the process is lenghty so to put it simple i pick andly the common selctions. as for the hdd which seems to be the most of my problemits a 40 gig drive, i have 6 gigs set to the linux osin fat32, i then have 2 gigs set in fat32 unused and teh remaineder in ntfs for windows. when i get passed everything else and i go to install it comes up with the error at the end of 2 arguements with one given and refferes me to here saying thta i did something stupid.sorry to be a bother but i just wanted to get ti straightened out.
The actual error message(s) that came up would be *extremely* helpful.
Are you attempting to use the Gentoo Linux Installer?
This bug was resolved long ago, but we just haven't got a new LiveCD out. You can upgrade to the latest CVS snapshot of the installer using the instructions at <http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/releng/installer/faq.xml#newerversion>. Alternatively, you can use the manual installation method that has worked just fine for many years :)
