I am running Xrg-6.8.2-r4 on my Inspiron 9300. I have the ATI Radeon Mobility
X300 and I am using the ati-drivers from portage. In my X I am unable to use the
number key 0 but I can use shift key to get ")" not the number 0. I tried using
the open source ati drivers from Xorg. I have the same problem.

running xev and hitting the 0 key produces the following:

FocusOut event, serial 24, synthetic NO, window 0xe00001,
    mode NotifyGrab, detail NotifyAncestor

FocusIn event, serial 24, synthetic NO, window 0xe00001,
    mode NotifyUngrab, detail NotifyAncestor

KeymapNotify event, serial 24, synthetic NO, window 0x0,

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start X
2. Start any application like xterm
3. Hit the number 0 key

Actual Results:  
Number 0 doesnt register.

Expected Results:  
Number 0 should register.

What's the output of `setxkbmap -print`, and please attach your X log.

I ran the Ubuntu 5.04 live cd which has Xorg 6.8.2, The "0" key works fine in it.

Output of `setxkbmap -print`:
