Description Arrigo Marchiori 2005-10-17 13:13:59 UTC
The at76c503 driver supplied by Gentoo (and by the driver makers themselves)
doesn't work under newer kernels: 2.6.12 and later.
The solution is the little patch pointed at
http://iprserv.jura.uni-leipzig.de/pipermail/atmel-wlan-usb/2005-August/002474.html

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.upgrade kernel
2.emerge at76c503
3.try to use it

Actual Results:
If you don't apply the patch, the card seems unable to send data. It actually
connects to wireless networks, but then it sends nothing.

Expected Results:
The network card should work regularily, transmitting and receiving data when
needed.

Celeron CPU, Ad-Hoc wlan with WEP encryption. The card I'm using is a SMC USB
adapter.
The problem seems indipendent from WEP.

I think this was already fixed by at76c503a-kernel-2.6-fixes.diff a few days ago.
Please reopen if not.
Comment 2 Arrigo Marchiori 2005-10-23 13:37:40 UTC
No, it wasn't. :-(
Actually, I ran into this bug right after the last update of the ebuild (because
I also switched to a new kernel in that occasion).

at76c503a-kernel-2.6-fixes.diff in fact doesn't contain the patch I pointed.

thanks, I fixed it with -r2. I hope your adhoc is working now :)

Yes, it is working perfectly! I think you can close this bug now.

Thank you! :-)
