i installed amyedit 0.9 using an overlay on ~amd64 and it works as expected flawlessly Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. $ emerge info Portage 2.0.53_rc5 (default-linux/amd64/2005.1, gcc-3.4.4, glibc-2.3.5-r2, 2.6.13 x86_64) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.13 x86_64 AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3000+ Gentoo Base System version 1.12.0_pre9 dev-lang/python: 2.3.5, 2.4.2 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.13 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r7 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6-r1 sys-devel/binutils: 2.16.1 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.20 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.11-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="amd64 ~amd64" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-march=k8 -O2 -pipe" CHOST="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.4/env /usr/kde/3.4/share/config /usr/kde/3.4/shutdown /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb /usr/lib64/mozilla/defaults/pref /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/texmf/web2c /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-march=k8 -O2 -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoconfig distlocks sandbox sfperms strict" GENTOO_MIRRORS="ftp://ftp.gentoo.mesh-solutions.com/gentoo/ http://ftp.uni-erlangen.de/pub/mirrors/gentoo ftp://ftp.romnet.org/gentoo/ http://212.219.56.162/sites/www.ibiblio.org/gentoo/ http://212.219.56.146/sites/www.ibiblio.org/gentoo/ ftp://194.117.143.70/mirrors/gentoo http://212.219.56.152/sites/www.ibiblio.org/gentoo/ http://ftp.heanet.ie/pub/gentoo/ http://src.gentoo.pl http://gentoo.ITDNet.net/gentoo" LC_ALL="de_DE.UTF-8" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/portage_overlay" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="amd64 X acpi aim alsa apache2 avi berkdb bitmap-fonts cdparanoia cdr crypt cups curl dvd dvdr dvdread eds emboss encode fam foomaticdb fortran ftp gdbm gif gphoto2 gstreamer gtk gtk2 icq ieee1394 imagemagick imlib java jpeg junit lesstif libwww lzw lzw-tiff mad motif mp3 mpeg msn mysql ncurses nls ogg oggvorbis opengl pam pcmcia pdflib perl png ppds python quicktime readline ruby samba scanner sdl speex spell sqlite ssl sysvipc tcltk tcpd tetex tiff truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts unicode usb userlocales vorbis wifi xml2 xmms xpm xprint xv zlib userland_GNU kernel_linux elibc_glibc" Unset: ASFLAGS, CTARGET, LANG, LDFLAGS, LINGUAS, MAKEOPTS
Argh. Stop this nonsense. Read about differences between ~arch mask and hardmask in handbook before filling bugzilla with useless bugreports! If you were able to install and start something on single system it does not mean it's tested and stable!
ok, ok, thought this was still the common way for requesting to add ~amd64 to packages. at least 1 or 2 years ago it was the common way. so i do what the handbook says and ask for testing of app-editors/amyedit on x86_64. but in this special case is to say that this piece of software is so small that i don't expect problems with it. it's just an editor which i wouldn't expect hardware specific code. best regards and sorry for trouble Georg Schild
No, you're right, this *is* the correct way to request ~amd64.
I can confirm, app-editors/amyedit-0.9 is stable enough for marking ~amd64; but -0.8 is not. No point in making an older version and a newer version both the same keyword, anyway. 0.9 marked ~amd64, thanks for reporting and testing.
