2.6.12-gentoo-r9 "self configured" on Pentium III coppermine everything is UPTODATE I think. The system hungs only if there is the cardmgr program started, but without it the cards cannot work. The card is Airbond wireless lan model XI-325H. It works with the hostap, or orinoco driver, but the failure is I thing in the yenta-socket somewhere. Everytime I put it in the dmesg sais : cs: memory probe 0x0c0000-0x0fffff: excluding 0xc0000-0xd3fff 0xf0000-0xfffff orinoco 0.14alpha2 (something authot etc.) orinoto_cs --||-- Uhhuh. NMI received. Dazed and confused, but trying to continue You probably have a hardware problem with your RAM chips There is but another strange thing. The card works absolute properly on the Gentoo life CD, where it rans with the hostap driver (kernel 2.6.11-gentoo-r3 not the youngest cd I tink). On an older kernel 2.6.11-gentoo-r9 it does the same but doesen't hung and says cannot read MAC address. And it isn't working Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Actual Results: described in detailes Expected Results: functional wifi If you could give me a hint. I should be able to fix It. Its likely a configuration problem.
Please try to reproduce on 2.6.13 (and even better, vanilla-sources-2.6.14_rc4)
Please try to reproduce this with the in-kernel hostap driver of vanilla-sources-2.6.14 and re-open this bug.
