Description pikkumyy 2002-11-18 06:26:34 UTC
I don't know if it was just my configuration, but I noticed following problems when following your
installation documentation to the letter:

- Boot after partitioning HD. Changes to
partitions didn't reflect on-the-fly, but needed a boot. I didn't notice this in documentation
even after careful reading.

- cfdisk partition definition. On my installation /dev/hda was
my dvd-rom and first harddrive was /dev/hde01. Since man-pages weren't installed, it would have
been nice to mention in the documentation that if /dev/hda isn't the HD to partition, give it as a
parameter to cfdisk.

- GRUB. First of all, at least on my case, bzImage wasn't located in
"/boot/bzImage" from GRUB's point of view, but in "/bzImage" (hde01 was /boot). This also was the
case in other paths in "grub.conf". Also symlink from "menu.lst" to "grub.conf" didn't work
becouse of this. It took me a while to configure GRUB becouse of this, so I home this will be fixed
soon.
