can't reproduce this error on my box. When I selected hardened gcc profile (x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-3.4.5-hardened) it fails during linking: /usr/bin/ar crvs libmxml.a mxml-attr.o mxml-entity.o mxml-file.o mxml-index.o mxml-node.o mxml-search.o mxml-set.o mxml-private.o mxml-string.o a - mxml-attr.o a - mxml-entity.o a - mxml-file.o a - mxml-index.o a - mxml-node.o a - mxml-search.o a - mxml-set.o a - mxml-private.o a - mxml-string.o x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-ranlib libmxml.a x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-gcc -O -o mxmldoc mxmldoc.o -L. -lmxml /usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/3.4.5/../../../../x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/bin/ld: mxmldoc.o: relocation R_X86_64_32 against `a local symbol' can not be used when making a shared object; recompile with -fPIC mxmldoc.o: could not read symbols: Bad value
Created attachment 123100 [details] Ebuild for new version of mini-xml
This is a the ebuild of a new version of Mini-XML. Compared to previous versions, Mini-XML changed license (to a variation of LGPL). I'm not sure if it fixes the original bug description (not compiling on PPC).
Just put version 2.4 into cvs. Does it work for you, nixnut?
Try w/ 2.4 and reopen if needed.
