My locale is KOI8-R and amarok-1.3.3 don't add into collection songs, which contains cyrillic symbols. Folders and files with no cyrillic symbols it add just fine. I try to use SQLite and MySQL, but result was the same. $HOME/.kde/share/apps/amarok/collection_scan.log contains filenames like ?????-?????????.mp3 instead of correct cyrillic filenames. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Run rebuild collection with such files 2. Look for these files in the created collection 3. Look in collection_scan.log Actual Results: AmaroK 1.3.3 just ignore 70% of my music collection. I can't listen these files inside collection. Expected Results: I think amarok should correctly add such files to collection or inform me about this situation. nerff@nerff ~ $ emerge info Portage 2.0.51.22-r3 (default-linux/x86/2005.1, gcc-3.3.6, glibc-2.3.5-r2, 2.6.13-ck7 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.13-ck7 i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz Gentoo Base System version 1.6.13 ccache version 2.3 [enabled] dev-lang/python: 2.3.5-r2, 2.4.1-r1 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.12 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r6 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6-r1 sys-devel/binutils: 2.15.92.0.2-r10 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.18-r1 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.11-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-O2 -march=prescott -mmmx -msse -msse2 -msse3 -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/share/config /var/q mail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -march=prescott -mmmx -msse -msse2 -msse3 -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoconfig candy ccache digest distlocks sandbox sfperms strict" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://distfiles.gentoo.org http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions /gentoo" LANG="ru_RU.KOI8-R" LINGUAS="ru" MAKEOPTS="-j3" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="x86 7zip X a52 aac ada aim alsa apache2 apm arts artswrappersuid async automount avi bas h-completion bdf berkdb big-tables bitmap-fonts browserplugin bzip2 ccache cdr crypt css curl dbus dga divx4linux dri dts dvd dvdr dvdread eds effects emboss encode exif extensions fam f bcon ffmpeg flac flash fontconfig foomaticdb fortran gdbm gif glx gphoto2 gpm hal hfs icq ima gemagick imlib ithreads java javascript jfs jpeg jpeg2k kde kdeenablefinal libg++ libwww logr otate mad matroska mbox mikmod mime mjpeg mmap mmx mmxext mng mnogosearch motif mozilla mozsv g mp3 mpeg mplayer musicbrainz ncurses nls nptl nptlonly ntfs ntlm nvidia ogg oggvorbis opene xr opengl oscar oss pam pascal pdflib perl php plugin png povray python qt quicktime radius r ar rdesktop readline recode reiserfs rss rtc samba sametime sdl slang smp spell sql sse sse2 ssl subversion svg symlink tcltk tcpd threads tidy tiff truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts u nderscores unsupported_8bit urandom vorbis win32codecs winbind wmf xface xml2 xosd xpm xrandr xv xvid xvmc zip zlib linguas_ru userland_GNU kernel_linux elibc_glibc" Unset: ASFLAGS, CTARGET, LC_ALL, LDFLAGS
I know upstream had issues with non-ascii or latin1 compatible encodings some time ago, you probably want to report that to them directly on bugs.kde.org. If a patch is made that fixes the problem, feel free to reopen this bug.
PLease try the following url to fix... http://amarok.kde.org/amarokwiki/index.php/FAQ#amaroK_is_not_displaying_my_utf-8_id3v2_tags_properly.21
Hi :) I'm Polish (charset iso8859-2) and this bug is really annoying! :[ Here is the appropriate amarok bug and solution: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=114195 Regards, Crocodil
Closing this, 1.3.4 release solves this (you have to rebuild your collection, probably).
