Description Stefan Trenker 2005-10-11 09:54:50 UTC
Under 2.6.12-r10 everything is fine, but with gentoo-sources-2.6.13-r3
wpa_supplicant does no longer start ipw2100 even if the modules required are loaded.

For emerging ieee80211 I removed the file /usr/src/linux/include/net/ieee80211.h
as requested by the ebuild.

On starzing /etc/init.d/net.eth1 i get the following errormessage:

localhost ~ # /etc/init.d/net.eth1 start
 * Starting eth1
 *   Starting wpa_supplicant on eth1 ...

                         [ !! ]

Since everything runs perfectly unchanged under 2.6.12-r10 my
/etc/wpa_supplicant.config is ok

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. see above
2.
3.

You need to run wpa_supplicant with "-D wext" instead of "-D ipw" since linux-
2.6.13+ supports WE-18 (which in turn supports WPA) and thus deprecates the
private WPA ioctls of the ipw* drivers.

Correct your configuration in /etc/conf.d/net and/or /etc/conf.d/wireless
