"Honeyd is a small daemon that creates virtual hosts on a network. The hosts can be configured to run arbitrary services, and their TCP personality can be adapted so that they appear to be running certain versions of operating systems. Honeyd enables a single host to claim multiple addresses on a LAN for network simulation. It is possible to ping the virtual machines, or to traceroute them. Any type of service on the virtual machine can be simulated according to a simple configuration file. Instead of simulating a service, it is also possible to proxy it to another machine." You will need libevent (BUG #10482) and likely arpd (BUG #10483) to get this to work. The author seems to have forgotten the test scripts in this version, so I included the ones from the previous version. Besides the obvious honeypot applications, impress your friends with your new Cray :;)

Created attachment 6390 [details] honeyd-0.4a.ebuild (New Version) Still getting the hang of Bugzilla :;) Here it is, seems the same as 0.4, but the sample scripts are back in the tarball. -Daniel Mannarino
i dont have time for this, and it looks like a huge PITA to process. click download attachment, save file, repeat forever and ever. somebody with lots of free time should take this ;-)
I'm sorry, did I mess something up? All you need now is the honeyd-0.4a.ebuild file now. The other files were required for 0.4 because they were left-out of the tarball. the honeyd-0.4a.ebuild should work out-of- the-box. Or do you mean that the package is complicated? Sorry, I don't understand. -- Daniel Mannarino
Comitted, thanks for the ebuild!
