I would like to have packages for: mfold, nupack, pknots, pknots-rg, hotspot,
ApE.  They all work wonderfully on amd64 and I believe I can create the ebuilds;
would that be useful?

Sure. But please open a separate bug for each and attach a plaintext ebuild
there, no tarballs. :-)
