Which ssh package are you using?
on gentoo side: openssh-4.2_p1 on redhat side: openssh-3.6.1p2-18 P.S: this problem exist also when i using openssh-3.x on gentoo side.
I've had the same problem recently forwarding x11 through ssh to a mac (window shows up, contentless), but this also causes my monitor to power off and ssh to (probably) crash (I can't reconnect or see anything on my screen without rebooting). So, I think its probably an X11 problem (I'm using X11R7 with composite/render/damage on), and not an ssh one.
Mis-assigned stale bug.
Please retest, and reopen if needed. There have been LOTS of changes since 2005.
solved at this moment (Dec-2008). have no problem.
