When using xine-lib >1.1.0 I can't play mp3 files within amarok anymore (using the xine engine): amarok just loops through all my files without playing them. :( Downgrading to xine-lib-1.1.0 (without changing settings in amarok or recompiling it) solves the problem for me. Amarok is version 1.3.2-r1. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install xine-lib >1.1.0 2. Load mp3 file in amarok (and using the xine engine) 3. You see... *** Bug 108625 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
Need mad useflag to enable mp3 reproduction in newer versions.
I have just been hit by this with the same symptoms (amaroK cannot play files using the xine engine). Attempting to load an mp3 into xine states that it cannot play mp3 files. Note that it is 9 months after this bug was filed and I've only just been hit by it (possibly because USE flags are no longer implied by other packages?). Recompiling xine-lib with the mad USE flag fixed it, but this is not very clear. Perhaps an enotice on amaroK or xine-lib would be handy. Additionally, maybe a change from: "Adds support for mad (high-quality mp3 decoder library and cli frontend)" to "Adds support for mad (high-quality mp3 decoder library and cli frontend, *required* for mp3 support)"
