Description Alexandru Toma 2005-10-08 05:05:33 UTC
Maybe my memory is playing tricks on me but I remember that p.g.o search used to
work with a query such as "pdf writer" before the upgrade. Now it doesn't list
anything even though it should probably list pdf-writer as a result.

If this is not the case then please consider this a feature request. It is very
difficult to find packages using just one keyword (and more than one doesn't
seem to work).

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:

I'm not sure what upgrade you are referring to. The upgrade hasn't happened yet.

I think you mind is playing tricks on you. Or maybe "pdf writer" worked because
it was in the description. The packages.g.o search is intended to work similiar
'emerge -sS' meaning it uses regular expressions on the name and description.

This has always been the functionality of the search engine. The upgrade (the
real upgrade) will have a different search engine.

I thought there has been an upgrade since now the changes part of the listing of
an ebuild ( http://packages.gentoo.org/ebuilds/?gramofile-1.6-r1 for example)
links to cia.navi.cx and it didn't in the past (I'm sure of this) and there are
some other minor visible changes. So maybe it wasn't an "upgrade" but there were
definately some changes... that's what I was talking about.
