I was just doing normal stuff and i su to root, after a little while something launched the following processes: root 5834 0.0 0.0 1440 648 ? S 16:45 0:00 /USR/SBIN/CRON root 6252 0.0 0.1 3504 1060 ? S 16:45 0:00 /usr/sbin/sendmail root 6257 0.0 0.1 3496 1104 ? S 16:45 0:00 /usr/sbin/postdrod I dont have ssmtp installed, i removed it and installed postfix, but did not add it to a runlevel. I do have vcron at default runlevel though (haven't touched its settings) If i shut down the machine while these processes are up, i will get lots of errors about postdrop when shutting down.
please take this to the forums i would tell you to look at the crontab first ...
my guess is that since vcron needs a mta to mail some results (some developer told me that in irc), vcron launches /usr/sbin/sendmail and since it's not really sendmail or ssmtp it tries to do something not valid for postfix and these errors are appearing.
