After reading for a while on various forums / bugs, may said to ditch the original libSDL/openal and replace them with the ones from the regular libs.. I did this.. it still doesn't work. Note.. this was fixed with ACCEPT_KEYWORDS=~amd64 emerge nvidia-glx nvidia-kernel .. something is broken in the current nvidia drivers?
It's quite possible that there was something broken on your particular setup, but it works fine on amd64 for me using both the stable and testing drivers. Also, in the future, don't make changes to the package, such as linking to your system libSDL/openal (which is a bad idea anyway) and then file bug reports. We're very likely to just mark it INVALID and ask you to revert your changes. Essentially, we can't support a package that you're modifying. Can you try reinstalling the stable nvidia-kernel and nvidia-glx and see if the problem returns?

What about with the original openal/libSDL?
