When people install quake1, they expect an emerge 'n' play situation. As far as I understood the situation is: quake1 is just the software w/o data. You have to copy data from an original CD. In the gentoo forum some people write fuhwquake-bin is an alternative solution for playing quake1. Could a post install message please explain the situation? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
pkg_setup() { games_pkg_setup echo ewarn "You probably want games-fps/quakeforge if you're" ewarn "looking for a quake1 client ..." } That is already in the ebuild and spit out at merge time. The "official" quake1 client from id isn't really usable except as source on which to base another game. It uses *ancient* technology by today's standards and is known for some nasty bugs.
